How compression works
- This tool mainly reduces the size of images inside the PDF. Text, fonts and vector graphics are not re-rendered, so they stay sharp.
- Image compression is lossy: some image detail is permanently discarded. This is not lossless compression. Your original file is never changed.
- PDFs that are mostly text, or that already use well-optimized images, may shrink very little. If the result would not be smaller, the tool tells you instead of giving you a bigger file.
- Digital signatures will no longer be valid after compression. Password-protected PDFs are not supported.
